How to delete messages in a conversation on your iPhone

In this post, I will show you how to delete one or multiple messages in a long conversation on your iPhone.

This is useful if you want to remove confidential and sensitive information or make space on iCloud after you've imported a photo or video.

Please note that to take advantage of this feature, your iPhone needs to run at least iOS 6.

Since iOS 7:

  1. Long press on (one of) the desired message

  2. Tap on "More"

  3. OPTIONAL: Tap on the empty circle to select multiple ones

  4. Tap on the small bin (bottom left)

  5. Confirm by tapping on "Delete Message"

On iOS 6

If you still have a device running iOS 6, then you need to

  1. tap "Edit" (top right corner)

  2. select the individual messages to delete

  3. tap on the "Delete" button (bottom left)

And you, how often do you (need to) delete specific messages on your iPhone?
